Aviation program for teens in New Jersey
If your teen says they want to be a pilot, the next question is usually: where do we even start, and how much will it cost? Flight lessons in a real plane run hundreds of dollars an hour. Starting on the ground first saves a lot of them.
FLT 101 is that starting point, here in Jersey City.

FLT 101 Intro to Flight Training
No prerequisite; grouped by age and experience. Aerodynamics, instruments, weather, navigation and radio, practiced in the simulator every class. Teens leave with the foundation to begin flight training with a partner school and a study plan for the written exam.
What comes next
After FLT 101, FLT 201 Private Pilot Prep I is ground school and simulator training to prepare for the FAA Private Pilot written test. FLT 301 Private Pilot Prep II follows, flying with a partner flight school toward the checkride; partner-school flights are billed separately from Academy tuition. We prepare students; the FAA examines and certifies. Simulator time is not logged flight time.
Is aviation really for my teen?
That is exactly what FLT 101 helps you find out, before spending on real flight hours.
