RC airplane building class for kids
There is a special moment when a kid watches the plane they built leave the ground. UAS 100 Intro to Aerospace Engineering is built around that moment.
Over the semester, kids learn why wings lift, how control surfaces steer, and how to put a light, strong airplane together with their own hands.

UAS 100 Intro to Aerospace Engineering
No prerequisite; grouped by age and experience. Kids leave with an RC airplane they built that flies, and a place in the end-of-semester air show. Family is invited.
Then: RC aerial combat
In Spring 2027, students can join UAS 300 RC Aerial Combat and leave with a combat-ready airplane or drone and a ranked competition record.
Why it works
Kids practice in the simulator before they fly the real model, so crashes are fewer and lessons stick.
Questions parents ask
Do we keep the plane?
Yes, the airplane your child builds is theirs.
Is it too hard for an 8-year-old?
Coaches break it into small steps. Kids work at the bench with help when needed.
