Robotics classes for kids near Weehawken

Instead of a Saturday in a Manhattan classroom, Weehawken kids get a workshop ten minutes from home with 3D printers running, parts on the bench, and a coach beside them rather than in front of twenty students.

Weehawken is small, and most families end up driving into Manhattan for anything technical. We are the other direction, and closer.

    Coming from Weehawken

Group sizes are small, so a Weehawken student who joins mid-term is not lost: coaches restart them at their own point in the build.

Classes run 90 minutes: a short briefing, hands-on time at the bench or the simulator, then a debrief where every student explains what they did and what broke. Groups stay small enough for a coach to sit next to your child.

    Where a Weehawken student starts

Younger builders from Weehawken usually begin with electronics, because wiring a working circuit is the fastest way to see cause and effect. From there they move into CAD and 3D printing, and from age 12 into combat robots, where a build has to survive being hit. Nothing is theoretical: if the robot does not drive, the class finds out why.

Coaches work in aviation and engineering, the equipment stays in the workshop, and every student leaves the term with something real: a build, a tracked skill record and a clear next step. If you are unsure which course fits, book the trial class and we will place your child in the right group on the day.

    Questions Weehawken parents ask

    How small are the groups?

Small enough that a coach can sit next to your child during a build, not shout across the room.

Can we join after the term has started?

Usually yes, depending on the remaining seats in that course.

Is there parking near 118 Ferry Street?

Yes, street parking around the block; plan a few extra minutes at pick-up time.

Where exactly are the classes held?

At our workshop, 118 Ferry Street, Jersey City NJ 07307 — about 3 miles from Weehawken. Under 10 minutes by car down the Palisades from Weehawken.

    Do you certify students?

No. We are a training academy: we prepare students, and the FAA examines and certifies. Simulator time is not logged flight time.
