Robotics classes for kids near Brooklyn
Brooklyn kids who already love building with whatever they find usually fit right in. Here the cardboard gives way to real motors, controllers and code, and every robot is tested on the floor, not on a screen.
Brooklyn Navy Yard's manufacturing history and the workshops around Gowanus offer a real backdrop for a child interested in making things. Our robotics classes focus that interest on motors, wiring and machines students can test themselves.

Coming from Brooklyn
Brooklyn Heights and Downtown Brooklyn have a different starting journey from Williamsburg or Park Slope. Rather than treating the whole borough as one commute, test your own subway-to-PATH connection or bridge-and-tunnel drive during the trial, including the final leg to the Heights.
Classes run 90 minutes: a short briefing, hands-on time at the bench or the simulator, then a debrief where every student explains what they did and what broke. Groups stay small enough for a coach to sit next to your child.

Course detailsWhere a Brooklyn student starts
Builders from Brooklyn start at level 100: ENG 100 if they want to code a robot, ENG 101 if they want to build one for competition. From there they move up to level 200 and 300 combat robotics, grouped by age and experience. Nothing is theoretical: if the robot does not drive, the class finds out why.
Coaches work in aviation and engineering, the equipment stays in the workshop, and every student leaves the term with something real: a build, a tracked skill record and a clear next step. If you are unsure which course fits, book the trial class and we will place your child in the right group on the day.
Questions Brooklyn parents ask
How do we plan the trip from Brooklyn?
Start with your neighborhood: Downtown Brooklyn and Brooklyn Heights can connect through Lower Manhattan to World Trade Center PATH. Drivers need both an East River crossing and a Hudson crossing. Check current service or traffic, then add the local journey to 118 Ferry Street; there is no direct Brooklyn-to-workshop train.
Is it worth the trip from Brooklyn?
Try one 90-minute class for $25 first. If the drive does not fit your week, you have lost one morning, not a semester.
What will my child build?
Robots and machines that move under their own power, using motors, sensors and simple code. Students keep a written progress record each semester.
Where exactly are the classes held?
At our workshop, 118 Ferry Street, Jersey City NJ 07307 — about 9 miles from Brooklyn. From Downtown Brooklyn and Brooklyn Heights, subway connections into Lower Manhattan can lead to PATH at World Trade Center. From Williamsburg and Greenpoint, plan a Manhattan transfer before crossing the Hudson. Drivers may cross the Brooklyn, Manhattan or Williamsburg Bridge and continue through the Holland Tunnel. Do you certify students?
No. We are a training academy: we prepare students, and the FAA examines and certifies. Simulator time is not logged flight time.
